GUWAHATI, Oct 8: Prajanmya Unmesh, a prominent socio-cultural organization in Assam, actively participated in the Sankardev birth anniversary festival on October 8th. The event, centrally organized in Udalguri town, saw enthusiastic participation from various communities, including the majority Bodo population. This celebration holds special significance as it marks the Silver Jubilee year of Prajanmya Unmesh.

The festival received sponsorship and support from notable figures, including Sri Govinda Basumotary, MLA, and Deputy Chief Executive of Bodoland Territorial Council. Respected Member of Parliament Sri Dilip Saikia, Sri Charan Bodo (MLA), and Udalguri Mayor Sri Rakesh Bodo also co-sponsored the event. One of the highlights of the celebration was a traditional Assamese drama known as “Bhaona,” presented under the auspices of Prajanmya Unmesh.

The performance of “Bhaona” was a remarkable experience for the local population, as the area had limited exposure to this traditional cultural art form. The festival spanned from October 5th to 8th, 2023, with the main cultural events, including “Bhaona,” taking place on the concluding day of October 8th.

The event witnessed the presence of not only artists and politicians but also religious leaders from various parts of the state, who participated in a spiritual symposium. Notably, the younger generation actively engaged in this traditional religious festival dedicated to Saint Sankardev. The organizing committee encouraged youngsters to wholeheartedly participate in future events to uphold and preserve Assamese culture.
