Prakram Divas Celebrated in Hojai

HOJAI, Jan 23: Keeping it’s unique and rich tradition of colourful celebration alive since 1984, Play Boys Sports Club Celebrated 129th Birth Anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose here on Thursday in a befitting manner with a day long programme.

This year Prakram Divas was organised here by Assam Linguistic Minorities Development Board with support from Play Boy Sports Club.

A cultural procession was taken out in the town in the morning, which passed by major thoroughfares of the town and concluded at the same venue near Hojai Railway Station.

Speaking on the occasion, Shiladitya Dev, chairman, ALMDB said,” Netaji was not a leader of any one religion, he was the leader of the nation, he sacrificed his life for the nation, we should always remember his ideology and try to emulate it.”

At the very outset, the national flag was hoisted followed by Azad Hind Fauj flag and Club’s flag was unfurled by followed by garlanding at the statue of Netaji Shiladitya Dev and other guests, the lamp were lighted by Social Worker Ranjan Bora and Senior Advocate Abu Bakkar Siddique.

After this all distinguished guests kept their views in detail on Life  and contribution of Netaji in Indian freedom struggle.

They echoed, “Netaji was the true patriot of the Nation, now it is our duty to fulfill his dream and contribute our bit in making ‘India’, a developed and vibrant Nation.”

The entire event was anchored by General Secretary and noted Social worker Kamal Dutta.

During the programme, a souvenir on the completion of Golden Jubilee Year was released.

At the end, a prize distribution ceremony of Speech and Art Competition on Netaji was held.

The dais also shared by Anup Deb, President,BJP,Hojai District; Chaturthi Rani Biswas, Chairperson,Hojai Municipal Board, Babul Saha, Social Worker.

On this occasion, Anup Chatterjee,editor, Purobani of Kolkata Corporation; Dr Jogesh Kakati, educationist and Netaji research scholar were present as distinguished guests.
