GOSSAIGAON, Dec 3: Pramod Boro, the chief executive member (CEM) of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), addressed an alumni meet at Jaraguri H.S School, highlighting the abundance of employment opportunities and the evolving definition of education in the contemporary world.
Boro emphasised that the world offers plentiful employment opportunities at various levels, from local communities to countries. He pointed out that individuals who remain unemployed often choose not to explore available job options in their surroundings. According to Boro, possessing a college or university degree is not the sole indicator of being educated; true education extends to the ability to secure employment, contribute to society, and adapt to different situations.
In the context of the changing landscape of knowledge and technology, Boro stressed the importance of understanding modern educational systems and technological advancements. He argued that a truly educated person comprehends the functioning of society, regions, states, or countries, and adapts to the demands of the contemporary era.
Boro also discussed the essential elements for the progress of the education system, namely students, teachers, parents, and the department. He highlighted various measures implemented by the government, such as setting up knowledge centers, constructing model schools, renovating existing schools, and initiating recruitment processes in the education department.
The opening ceremony, presided over by Jiran Basumatary, MLA of 28 Gossaigaon LAC and president of the School Management Committee, included speeches by JP Brahma, education director of BTC, and Dr Manjil Basumatary, Academic Registrar of Bodoland University. The event featured the inauguration of a newly allotted building, paying homage to former teachers, and the formation of a committee comprising former students.
