KOKRAJHAR, Oct 24: Former Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and UPPL president Pramod Boro, along with two other newly elected members, took oath as Members of the Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly (BTCLA) at a brief ceremony held at the BTCLA complex at Bodofa Nwgwr here on Friday.
BTCLA Speaker Tridip Daimary administered the oath of office in the presence of senior officials.
Pramod Boro, elected from the Goibari Constituency, took his oath in the Bodo language.
Rakesh Brahma of Mushalpur also took oath in Bodo, while Rekha Rani Das Boro of Baganpata took oath in Assamese.
In the recently concluded BTC elections, the BPF emerged as the single largest party with 28 seats and formed the Council, while the UPPL and BJP secured 7 and 5 seats respectively.
Speaking after the ceremony, Boro said he reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare and progress of the people of BTR.
He added that the UPPL would play a constructive opposition role in the Council and emphasised the implementation of the clauses of the BTR Peace Accord, 2020, which he said remains key to the region’s progress.
