Property Tax Hike Raises Concern

DEMOW, March 16: A Public meeting was organised in Demow public field on Wednesday evening for property tax hike in Demow Municipality area.

For the first time the municipal election was held in 2022 following formation of Demow municipality board.

The People present in the public meeting alleged that though Demow is a municipality area yet there is lack of facilities.

A woman staying in Demow municipality area who sold vegetables said in the public meeting that after property tax hike she might have to pay high taxes. Among 10 ward commissioners of Demow municipality board, Gaurav Gogoi, ward commissioner of 1 No ward was present in the public meeting.

People staying in Demow municipality area will submit a memorandum to the deputy commissioner of Sivasagar regarding the excessive hike of property tax.
