RPF rescues 10 minors, 1 missing male

Touts involved in illegal selling of railway tickets apprehended

GUWAHATI, May 9:
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of NF Railway successfully rescued 10 minors and a man during the ongoing checking from May 4 to 8, 2023 at different trains and railway stations over NF Railway. RPF also apprehended 2 (two) touts during this period who were involved in illegal selling of railway tickets. 4 tatkal tickets worth Rs 14,200 were recovered from Garhbanaili station and 1 tatkal ticket worth Rs 4,260 was recovered from Kishanganj Station.

From May 4 to 8, drives were conducted at different locations in Rangiya, Guwahati, New Jalpaiguri, Dimapur, Dharmanagar and New Haflong stations. During the drive, RPF of NFR managed to rescue 10 runaway minors (4 girls/6 boys) and 1 missing male person. All the rescued minors and male person were later handed over to the respective child line as per norms for safe custody and family members after proper verification.

In an incident on May 8, RPF of Kishanganj conducted a drive against touting activities at Passenger Reservation System (PRS) of Kishanganj Railway Station. During the drive, they noticed one person namely Sarfaraj Ahmed from Rudhasha, Kishanganj (Bihar) who purchased Tatkal tickets from the PRS counter and was selling to other customers at higher price. Later, the person was apprehended and one tatkal ticket worth Rs 4260 was recovered from him. Afterwards, the recovered railway tickets were seized and the person was taken into custody and a case was registered under Section 143 of the Railways Act.

Railway Protection Force (RPF) keeps a close watch on touting activity within its jurisdiction. It also remains vigilant for suspected persons involved in human trafficking as well as the movement of children in a suspicious manner, travelling alone, without proper guardians, etc.
