Sea of people throng UPPL’s grand rally in Kokrajhar

HT CorrespondentKOKRAJHAR, May 3: A grand rally for happiness and progress of ruling United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) witnessed a mammoth gathering on Wednesday which was held at Green Field near BTC Secretariat Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar.

A sea of people including party members, supporters and well-wishers from six block committees under the sadar sub-division of Kokrajhar (Kokrajhar district committee of political party) participated in holding party flags and banners which was organised by Kokrajhar district committee of UPPL party.

The rally started from Free Field, Kokrajhar traversed to JD Road, Vivekananda Path, Shantinagar, Bharamari and concluded at the beginning point amidst a smooth and disciplined manner.

Earlier, a public meeting was held in connection with the grand rally with Lawrence Islary, MLA and Kokrajhar district committee UPPL president in the chair.

Chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region, and UPPL president, Pramod Boro, Assam cabinet minister and UPPL founder president, Urkhao Gwra Brahma, MLAs Jiron Basumatary, Jolen Daimary, BTR executive members Dr Nilut Swargiary, Wilson Hasda, Ranjit Basumatary, Ukil Mushahary, and senior party leaders were present in the programme and addressed the gathering.

Notably, the rally being organised on Wednesday has been regarded as a testament to the love and trust that the citizens of BTR have reposed on the UPPL party as cutting across the communities in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) participated in the event.

CEM Pramod Boro said that the mammoth gathering of party supporters, workers and well-wishers have inspired the party leaders and members to dedicate deeply towards uplift and development of the citizens in the region.

He mentioned that “truly blessed to witness such a heart-warming display of love and support from the people of Kokrajhar at the grand rally”.

“The overwhelming turnout was a clear indication that the people of BTR share our vision of peace, progress, and good governance. As I stood before the sea of supporters, I appeal to every member of our UPPL party to rededicate themselves to serve the people of BTR,” Boro said adding that UPPL party is committed to building a new BTR where every citizen can live with dignity and thrive with opportunity.

Boro extended his gratitude to the people of Kokrajhar town and its adjoining areas under Kokrajhar sadar sub-division for massively supporting and helping while bringing the rally a grand success.

“It was heart-warming to witness the enormous love and support of people at the rally for happiness and progress, which began from Green Field, Kokrajhar today. The huge gathering was a testament to the unwavering commitment of our supporters to build a better future for the region as well as the party. I do express my appreciation to our dedicated party workers, supporters, and well-wishers who made this event a huge success,” said Boro.

On the allegations of BPF president Hagrama Mohilary, CEM Boro has denied the allegations of syndicate running along the Srirampur check gate, and said that there are no reports of syndicate running in the interstate check gate. He said that Mohilary’s statement was false and politically motivated to make confusion unnecessary among the common masses. He has accused BPF president Mohilary and his party of being involved with the syndicate running along the Srirampur during the 17 year long rule in BTC.

“Hagrama Mohilary was a leader of a syndicate that had been perpetrated massively during the BPF in BTC,” Boro said.

Minister Brahma while attending the rally said that the UPPL party successfully organised the grand rally for happiness and progress in Kokrajhar town, which drew an impressive turnout of over 50K supporters.

“This level of public support demonstrates the public’s confidence in the current coalition government in council and state. Such overwhelming support received by the rally is a positive sign for the future and continued efforts towards progress and development. Let us work towards achieving these goals with extreme optimism and enthusiasm. I wish to acknowledge all the dedicated and tireless party workers, supporters and well-wishers who helped to make this event a big success,” Brahma added.
