Semson Sing Ingti Remembered Across Karbi Anglong

 DIPHU, Feb 28: Karbi Anglong on Tuesday observed the 75th death anniversary of the founder of the district Semson Sing Ingti.

In the morning around 8 am, the statue of late leader Ingti was garlanded at Semson Sing Ingti Memorial Park (Old) and Semson Sing Ingti Memorial Park (New). Floral tributes were paid to the late leader and lamps were lit. Later an all-religion prayer was held at Khorsing Terang Park.

The occasion was attended by MP Horen Sing Bey; executive members of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Amar Sing Tisso, Richard Tokbi, Mangal Sing Timung, Surya Rongphar; MLA Darsing Ronghang; Member of Autonomous Council (MAC), Ajit Dey and others.

On the occasion, a painting competition for school students from Class I to V and for Class VI and X was organised. In the evening Semson Sing Ingti Memorial Parks, both old and new, were illuminated.

In Bokajan, the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP), Karbi Anglong Committee remembered the late leader at a function at Bokajan CCI Gate.

Social worker Robin Kumar Hati Baruah led in the garlanding and paying of floral tributes to the statue of Semson Sing Ingti.

On the occasion, a painting completion of the portrait of Semson Sing Engti was held for students of Class III to V.

Saya Engti and Kadom Terangpi presented the song “Oh Semson Nang Kai Pen”, based on the life of the late Ingti.

The occasion was attended by AJYCP, Karbi Anglong president Jitu Phukon; advisor, Horen Engti; Surya Saikia, vice chairman of Bokajan Municipal Board, Sundor Engti; writer Rumi Baruah and others.

AJYCP leader Jitu Phukon announced the prizes for the painting competition. The 1st prize went to Riyan Baruah; the 2nd prize went to Sarkangthir Bey; the 3rd prize went to Riya Mazumder.
