Senior assistant suspended for alleged bribe

NAGAON, Nov 3: A senior assistant of Dawson Higher Secondary and Multipurpose School in Nagaon town has been suspended following allegations of accepting money from students under the pretext of processing forms for the Nijut Moina scheme, a flagship program of the Assam government.

District Commissioner Debashish Sarma conducted a surprise inspection after receiving complaints and found that the senior assistant, Pavan Kumar Bora had been collecting Rs 500 from students for form processing.

The District Commissioner condemned the act and assured strict action against those involved. The school principal has also been issued a show-cause notice.

The suspension sends a strong message that such malpractices will not be tolerated in Nagaon district.
