SIVASAGAR, March 21: Senior citizens Forum, Sivasagar on Saturday observed day-long cultural and sports meet in Peoli Phukan Stadium. Deben Chandra Baruah, president of Sivasagar district committee, hoisted the flag and Dilip Saikia, secretary, did the anchoring.

Bijumoni Dutta and her team sang the opening chorus while Prabhat Borthakur did the tarpan. Kartick Dutta inaugurated the sports and games among the senior citizens. Suresh Saikia, president of the state Senior Citizens Association, won the 1km race among citizens above 80 years of age.
The open session was inaugurated by Prasanna Borthakur, secretary, state Committe. He said that it is essential that the senior citizens keep themselves physically and mentally fit though such meets. Suresh Saikia was the chief guest of the function with various cultural programmes. Over two hundred senior citizens from various places took part in the function.
