SI Leeza Barua under investigation

MORIGAON, Oct 1: Sub-inspector Leeza Barua of the Dharamtul Police Outpost in Morigaon district is under investigation by local organisations for allegedly assaulting a 15-year-old girl.

The minor had filed a First Information Report (FIR) against a 45-year-old man, accusing him of harassment over an extended period. Feeling threatened, she approached the Dharamtul Outpost to report the incidents. Reports indicate that SI Barua attempted to persuade the girl to withdraw her complaint, but when she refused, the officer allegedly took her into a room and physically assaulted her, even marking her feet with vermilion.
