Sibsagar Girls’ College platinum jubilee begins today

SIVASAGAR, Feb 8: The three-day closing ceremony of the Sibsagar Girls’ College Platinum Jubilee will begin from Sunday. Addressing the media on Wednesday in this connection, Protim Sharma, principal of the College said that the three-day programme will begin after formal hoisting of the flags by him and the president of the college governing body Dr Jogesh Borah in the morning. It will be followed by smriti tarpan and the alumni meet which will be inaugurated by Dr Asna Chetia.

 Prasanta Rajguru, the editor -in chief, of the Prag News, will deliver the Biren Borkotoky Memorial Lecture on” Contemporary Assam, Asomiya and Our Future” on day two.

The “Ananya Bota”, an award for a distinguished woman entrepreneur, will be presented to Anjali Mohan Chetia. The evening cultural programme will be inaugurated by Samiran Phukan, general secretary, AASU.

The open session on Feb 11 will be inaugurated by minister Jogen Mohan. The souvenir will be released by Asom Sahitya Sabha president Basanta Goswami and education minister Ranoj Pegu will grace the occasion as the chief guest. Pabitra Margherita, the Union minister of state, and Jiten Hazarika, the vice chancellor of the Dibrugarh University will attend the function as special guests. Noted singer Tarali Sharma will be the main attraction of the musical night in the evening.
