Silikhabari HS School gears up for Golden Jubilee celebration from Dec 8

TEZPUR, Nov 29: Silikhabari Higher Secondary School in Barchala LAC, Sonitpur district, is poised to celebrate its 50 years of existence with a grand three-day-long program starting from December 8. In collaboration with the local community, the school authorities are organising the golden jubilee function to commemorate the significant contributions of the institution to the educational landscape of the greater area.

The organising committee, having already unveiled the itinerary, has completed all preparations, including the installation of the main pandal’s “laikhuta” by the retired principal of the school and working president of the organising committee, Roma Kanta Simkhora. This ceremony took place in the presence of school teacher Sachi Upadhyay, retired teacher and social workers Balobhadra Bhandary, Purna Prasad Koirala, Mahim Acharya, and students and teaching staff of the school.

The three-day celebration will commence with the inauguration of the golden jubilee gate and the hoisting of the school flag, accompanied by the hoisting of fifty additional flags, symbolising fifty years of the institution’s existence by fifty distinguished personalities of the area. A cultural procession and an inter-school quiz competition will follow on the first day.

The second day will feature an alumni meet at 10 AM, followed by the felicitation of retired teachers and employees, including an interaction program with esteemed guests such as Dr Jiten Kalita, Professor of Guwahati IIT, Dr Kankan Pathak, Professor of LGBRIMH, Tezpur, Mohan Karki, retired principal of Birjhora College, and Prabhat Das, Inspector of Schools, SDC, Tezpur. The evening will be adorned with a cultural program organized by the students.

The grand finale on the last day will host an open session under the presidency of Barchala MLA Ganesh Kumar Limbu, with the gracious presence of dignitaries including state education minister Dr Ranoj Pegu, Assam cabinet minister Ashok Singhal, DC Sonitpur Deba Kumar Mishra, among others. The event promises to be a fitting tribute to five decades of educational excellence at Silikhabari Higher Secondary School.
