All 52 admitted students gets discharged from Sonari Civil Hospital after examination by the medical team

Guwahati, Nov 26: The Health Department, Assam is closely monitoring the situation in Charaideo district where reportedly, cases of students falling sick after consuming Iron Folic Tablets (IFA) were received. Till the filing of this report all the 52 students admitted at Sonari Civil Hospital have been discharged after examination by the medical team.
Reportedly a health team from Batau Sub-center under Patsaku Block PHC distributed IFA tablets firstly to 75 students of Kheranipathar LP School. The health team later moved on to Nimalia LP School to distribute the tablets to 26 students. In both the schools IFA tablets were distributed in presence of the teachers. It may be noted that the health team, prior to distribution of the tablets had advised the children not to consume the tablet on an empty stomach.
After a while, the health team received information from the school authorities that 2 children from each school were vomiting and complaining of abdominal pain. They were immediately taken to Sonari Civil Hospital for treatment and further health intervention. Later, 48 other children from both schools, were further taken to the hospital for examination.
All the admitted children were examined by the doctors present at the Civil Hospital and discharged after examination in the presence of ADC- Health, circle officer and health officials. DC Charaideo also visited the Civil Hospital and interacted with the doctors, the children and the parents. The situation is under close watch and monitored for any further emergency situation.
It is to be noted that IFA supplementation is very important for each children as it not only corrects and prevents iron deficiency, anemia but also helps in cognitive development of the children.
