Sivasagar district task force to monitor prices of essential commodities

SIVASAGAR, May 23: A meeting of the district-level task force constituted by the Sivasagar district administration was held at Sukapha Bhawan on recently to review the prevailing market situation amid rising prices of essential commodities.

The meeting was chaired by Gauripriya Deori, Additional District Commissioner in charge of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department.

Officials of the Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department, Agriculture and Horticulture Department, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Fisheries Department, Circle Officers from various revenue circles, along with retailers and wholesalers of the district, attended the meeting.

Discussions were held on the responsibilities and duties of the district-level task force in monitoring market prices and ensuring that consumers are not harassed by traders or vendors.

The meeting directed vendors to prominently display price lists on signboards for 22 old and 18 newly added essential commodities.

ADC Gauripriya Deori warned that strict legal action would be initiated against any trader or vendor found violating the directives issued by the authorities. A question-and-answer session was also conducted among officials of various departments, members of the district administration and business representatives regarding implementation of the guidelines and market regulation measures, an official DIPRO release stated.
