KOKRAJHAR, Jan 6: The first ever Social Development Partners’ Meet 2023 was held at the conference hall of Bodoland Territorial Council Secretariat, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar on Friday.
The meet was held under the initiative of chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Pramod Boro that discussed deeply on the social development where several social development agencies that have been partnered with the BTR government for engaging in various social and economic development projects in the region.
The meet has emphasised to consolidate and strengthen the collective efforts and activities in ensuring sustainable change and development in the Bodoland Territorial Region.
Speaking on the occasion, Boro said, “It is now the time for us to work in a systematic manner — collate data, plan, train and execute in order to achieve the collective vision of building a peaceful, green and smart Bodoland.”
While thanking all the partner agencies for extending their expertise, support and goodwill, he implored them to continue their meaningful interventions in the region to make healthy upliftment and development of the region.
The meeting was attended by agencies that have partnered with the BTR government for engaging in various social and economic development projects.
Dr. Monica Bannerjee, CEO, Inter Globe Foundation, Dr. Dipankar Saharia (TERI), John Borgoayary, Regional Head (UNDP), Laxminarayan Nanda, Child Protection Specialist (UNICEF), Kuldip Singh, CEO, BRLF, Shrish Kalyani, Director, TRIF, Despande, Senior Lead, CEGIS, Bibhuti Nayak (Agastya International Foundation) were among the prominent members representing the partner agencies.
Deputy CEM Gobinda Chandra Basumatary, BTR executive members Ranjit Basumatary, Dharma Narayan Das and Reo Reoa Narzihary were also present on the occasion.
Notably, the BTR government entered into formal partnerships with the UNDP, UNICEF, Azim Premji University, Transforming Rural India Foundation (TRIF), North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR), Center for Effective Governance of Indian States (CEGIS), Bharat Rural Livelihoods Foundation (BRLF) and other civil society organisations for radically changing the deplorable human development indicators of the district and to achieve the SDGs 2030.
TRIF has been supporting the Government in the launch of the Bodoland Development Fellowship Programme (100 Professionals) for System Strengthening, Good Governance, and Strategic Management (programme planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation). UNDP has supported the government to develop a framework for achievement of SDGs in BTR by developing the Bodoland Vision Document (2030), and through proposed establishment of the Youth Empowerment Services (YES) Centres. UNICEF has provided technical support to BTR for strengthening Child Protection Institutions, WASH Programming, Education Development, and Training on Positive Parenting. Similarly, CEGIS, Azim Premji University, NECTAR and BRLF have been engaged in various intervention projects as per their sectoral expertise.
