Sonitpur ABSU Celebrates Rangjali Bwisagu

TEZPUR, April 17: Like in the past, this year too, the West Tezpur Anchalick ABSU celebrated the Rangjali Bwisagu on Sunday at Bandarmari ABSU Bhawan premises with much pomp and gaiety. As part of the daylong event, in the morning president of Sonitpur district ABSU and it’s former vice president Rajesh Basumtary and Shambhu Boro respectively unfurled the ABSU flag and Bwisagu flag which was followed by paying homage to Bodofa Upendranath Brahma by Sonitpur district ABSU vice president Jit Swrgiary and Ahem Hayenari from Sonitpur district Bathow Mahasabha.

A seminar on Bwisagu was held under the aegis of district ABSU president, Rajesh Basumtary which was graced by ABSU central committee adviser, Khwnkhra Swrgyary, central executive, Birdao Boro and MLA, Tezpur LAC, Prithiviraj Rava, etc. Besides Prithviraj Rava, other dignitaries dwelt at length on the in-depth study of Bwisagu and urged the Bodo people not to leave their grip on language, culture, heritage and tradition without which no nation can survive their identity. Prithiviraj Rava also urged the Bodo people to work together for the development of the nation through right education in which womenfolk of the Bodo nation would play a pivotal role.

A good number of Bwisagu team members from different villages of greater Bahbari-Bandarmari area performed Bwisagu dance showcasing different Bodo traditional dance forms thereby mesmerising everyone present in the colourful event. Over 40 senior citizens coming from different areas under Sonitpur district ABSU were specially felicitated in the programme. The programme was conducted by district ABSU secretary, Enosh Mocahary while president and secretary of WTAC, ABSU Jiku Bodosa and Rupjyoti Boro respectively moderated the entire porgramme. Earlier the ABSU unit organised a weeklong Bwisagu workshop which concluded on Sunday. However, as part of the programme, Bwisagu dance performance will be presented in every village under the Bahbari Bandarmari area upto April 19 with a three-day programme. On April 19, a cultural night will be held where popular Bodo singer Swmkhwr Daimary will be a major attraction.
