Later at 10.30 Am a special felicitation programme named man bawnai  was held to honour the seniors of the area.

The main function Gewlang Bwisagw Mochanai Badailainai  which means open Bwisagw Dance competition was held at 1 pm. The event was formally inaugurated by ABSU President, Dipen Boro and in his inaugural speech appreciating the Anchalick Committee ABSU workers and the organising committee for their selfless effort to showcase the cultural entity of the Boro nation trying to maintain the uniqueness of the national festival of the oldest tribal community of the region amidst many challenges.

He observed that Bwisagu is the most awaited seasonal festival for the Bodos a blend of cultural traditions, music, dance, and rituals. Praying Afa Bwrai Bathow for prosperity and unity among the Bodos he also urged the new generation to keep working for the educational and cultural and linguistic development of Bodos living in the greater area following the ideology of the senior and Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma.

Echoing same sentiment, Kokrajhar MP Jayanta Basumatary who attended the spectacular cultural event observed that it has been an essential festival for the Bodos lasting for several days.

“During this time Bodos say goodbye to the year by observing a tradition called ‘Gwkha-Gwkhwi-Janai’ involving eating bitter and sour –tasting wild vegetables which is too scientific. The festival is deeply connected with the lives of the Bodo community, its economy, language and culture and way of life and discipline on how to live in the society giving honour to others.” He said adding, that present day society in the name of modernization and digitization society has been facing threat over language. Hence I appeal to the parents to take care of their children to give priority to their mother tongue.
