SSB Organises Workshop Programme On ‘Say No To Drugs’ In Matiajuri

Gossaigaon, July 5: The 31st Bn SSB stationed at Matiajuri in Gossaigaon in a bid to aware the youths of border area villages about how drugs affect the psychological health of adolescent organised an workshop with a title ‘Say No to Drugs’ on Monday last.
The workshop was presided by Parag Chaturvedi, second-in-command, 31 Bn SSB Gossaigaon. As per the schedule of the programme weapon display exhibition was also carried out by the SSB followed by dog show by the dog handlers and drill demonstration by unit female contingent.
The programme was concluded with Bada Khana in which officers and officials of 31 Bn SSB participated along with students of Jamduar College.
Parag Chaturvedi, second-in-command conveyed the message to the youth during the seminar that drug abuse may lead to social, physical, emotional and job related problems in the future. Substance abuse can have an effect on a person’s physical and mental health as well as social relationships, family, work, education and quality of life. The potential effects of matter abuse include damage to organs, such as the heart, brain and liver.
The officer also said that drug abuse increases risk of mental health issues such as anxiety, depression and psychosis.
He also gave a few tips to overcome from drug addiction like surrounding yourself with supportive and positive people, finding new hobbies, exercise, meditation, good nutrition and seek professional help in case of drug abuse etc.
