Sudhakantha Diwas to be observed in Demow

DEMOW, November 1: The Demow Press Club will organize the ‘Sudhakantha Diwas’ to observe the
death anniversary of legendary Assamese singer Bhupen Hazarika at the Demow Jyoti-Bishnu Cultural
Building (Demow Public Hall) on November 4 and 5.
The two-day programme will begin with a flag hoisting. The programme will also comprise of an inter-
state Bhupendra Sangeet competition. The competition will be organized in two groups and the first

prize will comprise of cash worth Rs.10,000, the second prize will comprise cash worth Rs.5,000 and the
third prize will comprise cash worthy Rs.3,000. On November 5, the programme will begin with a
drawing competition.
A documentary prepared by the Demow Press Club on Bhupen Hazarika will also be screened on the
occasios. The students of different schools of Demow and local Artists will also stage cultural
programmes.
