GUWAHATI, Dec 16: Minister of Transport, Excise & Fisheries, Parimal Suklabaidya made a surprise visit to Nimati Ghat, Jorhat on Friday morning to inspect the condition of vessels and Ro-Pax vessels plying from there.
Minister Suklabaidya also inspected the site, took stock of the situation and interacted with the officials and staff.
During the inspection of the site, the minister also issued strict directions to the Inland Water Transport officials of the ghat to ensure complete safety and security of the passengers as well as to run the services on time to avoid any difficulties faced by the passengers.
Minister Suklabaidya also enquired about the condition of all vessels and ferries and directed the technical officials to run periodic check-ups of all vessels to avoid any kind of dysfunctionalities.
While sharing on his Twitter handle on Friday, minister Suklabaidya said, “I also had a detailed discussion to inspect the condition of the vessels & Ro-Pax vessels plying from here.”
“I also issued strict directions to ensure timely running of the services so that passengers do not face any difficulties,” minister Suklabaidya concluded.
