DIPHU, Sept 29: The Langpher Zonal Committee of the Karbi Cultural Society (KCS) on Monday paid tribute to Assam’s cultural icon and noted singer late Zubeen Garg during the 33rd Zonal Karbi Youth Festival (ZKYF) at Langpher Karbi Jutang Aklam, Bakulia.
A shradhanjali was organised with floral offerings and the lighting of diyas (earthen lamps) before a portrait of the late singer.

The tribute was led by Bhoben Gosh, retired lecturer of Toknokbe College, Dokmoka and former president of Karbi Anglong Sahitya Sabha, in the presence of Kamsing Hanse, president of Karbi Lammet Amei (KLA), Joysing Tokbi, adviser of KLA, and Madhuram Lekthe, Executive Member (EM) of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC).
Speaking on the occasion, Gosh described Zubeen Garg as a true cultural icon of Assam who revolutionised Assamese music and culture.
“It is very rare to find a person like late Garg. He was not only a singer, songwriter, playback artist, film actor and director, but someone who transformed Assamese culture through his immense contribution. His love and dedication to Assamese culture should always be remembered,” he said.
“In this cultural gathering it is important that we remember late Garg and let his spirit be in our midst,” Gosh added.
