KOKRAJHAR, July 20: Cabinet Minister for Handloom & Textiles, Sericulture, Soil Conservation, and Welfare of Bodoland Development Department, Urkhao Gwra Brahma, who also serves as the Guardian Minister for Chirang district, on Sunday ceremonially distributed an Ayushman Bharat Gold Card to Padmashri awardee Sarbeswar Basumatary.
The event was held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Kajalgaon.
As part of the government’s ongoing welfare efforts, cheques under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund were also handed over to four beneficiaries. In addition, 40 Anganwadi workers received smartphones under a district-wide initiative covering a total of 1,029 workers.
In a major step towards forest rights recognition, Certificates of Title for Forest Land under the Forest Rights Act, 2006, were distributed to 14 beneficiaries.
These 14 are among 5,131 eligible individuals identified across Chirang district.
The programme was attended by Bijni MLA Ajoy Kumar Roy, Sidli MLA Nirmal Kumar Brahma, BTC executive member Dhananjay Basumatary, Chirang Deputy Commissioner Jatin Bora, and several senior officials and dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, minister Brahma reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive development, digital empowerment of frontline workers, and recognition of land rights.
He said both the state government and the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) administration are working jointly to ensure comprehensive welfare for all sections of society.
