Village headman killed in West Karbi Anglong

DIPHU, April 21: In a tragic incident unidentified miscreants killed the village headman of Thepli Aram village under Jengkha Police Outpost in West Karbi Anglong district.

The victim has been identified as Rostom Tisso (65 years) of Thepli-Aram village.

According to the victim’s elder son Mongol Tisso, on the evening of had gone to attend an election meeting organised by the Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) in the village on Saturday. The meeting lasted up to 7 p.m. After the meeting Tisso along with another village headman Mohon Bey had headed out to their homes.

Later someone informed the deceased’s family that he had been was lying dead in a pool of blood by the roadside. The miscreants had reportedly beheaded the victim. The body has been sent for autopsy to the Diphu Medical College and Hospital here.
