Young Botany lecturer Monika Mushahary succumbs to cancer

KOKRAJHAR, June 13: Monika Mushahary, a young lecturer in the Department of Botany at Bodofa UN Brahma College passed away recently after a prolonged battle with breast cancer, leaving the academic community and residents of the region in deep mourning.

A native of the Serfanguri-Ramfalbil area, Monika was widely respected for her dedication to teaching, humility and commitment to academic excellence.

She had completed her Master’s degree in Botany and was actively involved in providing tuition classes to students in Kokrajhar town.

Known for her outstanding academic record and passion for education, Monika earned the admiration of colleagues, students and well-wishers alike.

According to family members, her parents made every possible effort to save her life, spending nearly Rs 15–16 lakh on medical treatment.

In their desperate attempt to ensure the best possible care, they reportedly sold land and other properties.

Despite their sacrifices and prolonged treatment, she could not overcome the illness.

Her untimely demise has cast a pall of gloom over Bodofa UN Brahma College and the wider community.

Teachers, students and local residents have expressed profound grief and paid tribute to her contributions as an educator and mentor.

Many described her death as an irreparable loss to society, remembering her as a sincere teacher whose dedication to nurturing young minds will continue to inspire future generations. Condolences have poured in from various quarters, with colleagues, students and well-wishers extending their sympathies to the bereaved family and praying for the eternal peace of her soul.
