SIVASAGAR, Sept 1: Activists from the Sivasagar District Youth Congress took to the streets on Friday in a protest, demanding the public revelation of all BJP activists linked to the Indrani Tahbildar suicide case. These activists contend that the agents have already admitted guilt in swindling money and offering false employment promises to jobless youths at Vajpayee Bhawan. However, the police have not yet disclosed the names of BJP leaders associated with this case. Protesters are insisting on the establishment of an inquiry commission, presided over by a retired High Court Judge, to investigate the Indrani Tahbildar death case.
Manjeer Gogoi, the district Congress president, criticised the state BJP for allegedly transforming Vajpayee Bhawan into a hub for extortion, where they allegedly collected Rs 3 lakh from job seekers. Anshuman Gogoi, a youth Congress leader, pressed for the disclosure of names of individuals who extorted Rs 2.5 lakh, while the agents have confessed to collecting only Rs 50 thousand each. Gogoi further accused the BJP government of using the reduction in LPG cylinder prices as an electoral ploy and cited the toll gate issue as another example of the state government’s disregard for the common people’s struggles.
