GUWAHATI, Nov 28:Â Assam Healthcare Co-Operative Society Limited and Swagat Super Speciality Surgical Institute (SSSSI), Guwahati have recently entered into a service level agreement to provide consistent and excellent medical, surgical and diagnostic services to the members of the Assam Healthcare Co-Operative Society Limited at a concessional rate.
Assam Healthcare Co-operative society is a non-profitable citizen driven enterprise initiated by its chairman Dr Jayanta Biswa Sarma. The society has 10,000 members and aims to provide affordable healthcare to its members through various schemes, camps and also the members are updated about various health related issues from time to time.
As per the agreement, the members of Assam Healthcare Co-operative Society Limited will enjoy a minimum concessional rate of 15% on the hospital’s existing rate list on the production of the membership card. The concession covers pathology laboratory, radiology, elective surgery (excluding implant, consumables and medicine) and inpatient bills (excluding consumables and medicine). Moreover, the Swagat Super Speciality Surgical Institute shall also provide additional welcome and care packages to help the members to feel at home and welcome. The hospital will communicate all medical information in simple layman’s terms for the members, including the need for a second opinion and referral. The agreement mentions the commitment of the institute to always strive for a continuously higher standard of care.
In addition, the institute will assist Assam Healthcare Co-Operative Society Limited in conducting its ongoing community outreach preventative health checkup camps by providing skilled personnel from time to time under joint and/or collaborative banners.
Dr Subhash Khanna, FRCS (Edinburgh), chairman and CMD of Swagat Super Speciality Surgical Institute and Dr Sujit Bordhan, PhD, CEO, Assam Healthcare Co-Operative Society Limited, expressed confidence that partnership between a citizen organisation and private medical care providers can a go a long way in improving the standard of care and reducing patients’ out-of-pocket medical expenses.
An agreement like this will serve as a template to trigger a positive movement in the healthcare sector in the state. Dr Khanna and Dr Bordhan expressed confidence that the public would come forward to the ownership of their own welfare by joining the growing movement under the leadership of the Assam Healthcare Co-Operative Society Limited and its partner private medical service providers.
