MOVCD-NER Assam Participates In Expo One – Organic North East 2023

GUWAHATI, Feb 5: Farmer Producer Companies promoted by Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region Assam under DoH&FP Assam participated in a 3-day event at Expo One – Organic North East 2023, from February 3 to 5 at Veterinary Ground Khanapara. Notably, Expo One accommodated the International Conference & Exhibition for the organic sector focused on the north-east to share information on organic agriculture, innovations, the potential use of digitisation, and new technologies.

Agriculture minister, government of Assam, Atul Bora while inaugurating the exhibition said, “The expo aims to strengthen the trade links between the north-east region and rest of the world and to boost trade and economy for local producers. A panel discussion was held to discuss prospects and potentials, marketing strategies, overcoming logistics issues, and industry mentorship for emerging FPOs. The FPCs got a platform to showcase their organic products, and the opportunity for market linkage through a buyer-seller meet. The FPCs were also given insights on the increasing demand of organic produce in domestic markets, online marketplace business model for FPO/FPC, opportunities for International export, etc.”

Triranga Bharatiya Borah, director, Directorate of Horticulture and Food Processing, Assam added, “Our motive is to give the farmers and FPCs who are into organic produce from the north-eastern region, a market platform and to collaborate with other brands, institutions, and organisations coming from different states. I hope our organic farmers get the maximum benefit from this expo.”
