New Delhi, May 30: In an assertive declaration on Wednesday, Union Minister Anurag Thakur revealed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ambitious goal for the seventh phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. Speaking to ANI, Thakur confidently predicted that this phase would propel the BJP’s seat count past the 400 mark. “The BJP has already achieved a record number of seats in the first six phases, and the seventh phase will take us past 400. I extend my gratitude to the people for their unwavering support,” Thakur stated.
The BJP, in collaboration with its National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners, is striving to secure over 400 seats in the current election cycle. Thakur underscored the electorate’s preference for stability, continuity, and robust leadership. “Our citizens recognize the necessity of stability and continuity for national progress, along with the need for strong and honest leadership,” he added.
Reflecting on the nation’s economic strides, Thakur highlighted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is poised to become the world’s third-largest economy within the next five years. He drew a sharp contrast between the current administration and its predecessors, saying, “What the Congress could not achieve in 60 years, PM Modi has accomplished in 10 years.”
Thakur also took the opportunity to criticize Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He pointed out the contradiction in Kejriwal’s actions, noting that while Kejriwal managed to conduct a roadshow in 47-degree heat, he sought bail on the grounds of health issues. “He is exposed once again. It is clear that he can do a roadshow in 47-degree temperatures but asks for bail due to supposed ill health,” Thakur remarked.
This critique comes on the heels of the Supreme Court Registry’s decision to deny an urgent hearing for Kejriwal’s plea to extend his interim bail. The Supreme Court had earlier granted Kejriwal interim bail until June 1 to allow him to campaign for the elections, with instructions to surrender on June 2. The Registry has advised Kejriwal to approach the trial court for regular bail.
