Chandigarh, March 10: A liquor tycoon, Sunder Malik, was gunned down outside a ‘dhaba’ in Sonipat, Haryana on Sunday. The entire incident, captured on CCTV, showed two men firing over 35 rounds at Malik in the parking lot of Gulshan Dhaba.
Haryana gangster, Himanshu alias Bhau, claimed responsibility for the murder. Himanshu, who is currently believed to be residing outside India, is on Interpol’s radar with a Red Notice issued against him last year.
Sonipat’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Gaurav Rajpurohit, stated that the suspects were seen alighting from a Honda City car before they shot Malik. He added that seven police teams are currently probing the incident and assured that the culprits will be apprehended soon.
Rajpurohit also clarified that the murder was not a result of gang rivalry. The police are now in contact with Malik’s family to investigate his criminal history.
The CCTV footage showed Malik trying to evade the attackers and stumbling out of his car, before being shot multiple times and eventually killed.
