Itanagar, May 26: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU), under the leadership of its president Dozi Tana Tara, conducted surprise inspections of government schools throughout the Dibang Valley district. The initiative aimed to assess the educational environment and address significant deficiencies.

A team led by AAPSU convener Neelam Son, former RGUSU president Nabam Akin, and NERIST PhD scholar Mero Yangfo undertook a thorough inspection of various schools. They engaged with teachers, students, and administrative staff to obtain firsthand information on the prevailing conditions.

The inspections revealed several critical issues. A severe shortage of adequate teachers’ quarters was noted across all schools in the district. Additionally, there was a significant lack of subject teachers in essential subjects such as English, economics, geography, Hindi, ZBC (Zoology, Botany, Chemistry), and physical education.

Specific schools were identified as needing urgent upgrades. The government higher secondary school in Anini was found to require significant infrastructure improvements, including a 100-bed boys’ hostel. The appointment of a new principal was also deemed urgent, given the current principal’s impending retirement in September. Furthermore, the absence of a science stream at Anini school raised concerns about the limited educational opportunities available to students.

Similarly, the government secondary school in Etalin faced critical challenges. The immediate appointment of a headmaster and subject teachers for Hindi, English, PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics), and social science was identified as essential to addressing academic gaps effectively.
