AGARTALA, July 22: In a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, the Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with Customs officials, recovered a huge consignment of narcotics from the Tuchandrai Bazar area in Khowai district of Tripura on July 21 late night.
During the operation, the joint team intercepted an Ashok Leyland truck bearing registration number TR01AR1754.
Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, the team recovered approximately 1,40,000 Yaba tablets, with an estimated value of Rs 14 crore in the international market.
The driver of the truck was apprehended at the scene. Both the seized narcotics and the accused have been handed over to the Customs Department for further investigation and legal action.
A senior Assam Rifles official stated that the force, in close coordination with other enforcement agencies, remains steadfast in its commitment to curbing the menace of drug trafficking and maintaining peace and security in the region.
