The operation was carried out based on a specific intelligence input.

Police sources revealed that a confidential tip-off alerted them about a vehicle transporting a large quantity of cannabis from Ganganagar to Ambassa. Acting promptly, a team led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ambassa Police Station, Nandan Das, launched a special operation and set up surveillance in the area.

The police intercepted a suspicious vehicle bearing registration number TR 03 Q 0373 as it entered Ambassa. A detailed search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 450 kg of cannabis, concealed within.

Two alleged smugglers — Prasenjit Majumder and Raju Deb, both residents of the Bishramganj area in Sepahijala District — were arrested at the scene.

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further interrogation of the accused is underway at Ambassa Police Station.
