Delegation of Nagaland ex-MLAs call on Arunachal Assembly Speaker

ITANAGAR, March 17: A delegation of ex-MLAs of Nagaland called on Arunachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Tesam Pongte at his office here on Tuesday.

Led by former Nagaland Assembly Speaker Neiba Ndang, the delegation included ex-minister V Kashiho Sangtam and former MLAs R Tohanba, Azheto and Ishak Konyak, who are on a study tour of Arunachal Pradesh.

The visit aimed at exchanging experiences on legislative practices, strengthening inter-state cooperation and gaining insights into Arunachal Pradesh’s Assembly’s functioning, an official report said.

Pongte extended a warm welcome and interacted with them on various aspects of legislative functioning and governance.

The discussions covered matters of mutual interest concerning the eight Northeastern states, including welfare issues of people from the region.

The delegation also shared perspectives on former legislators’ concerns like pension provisions, security arrangements, ex-gratia benefits and other welfare measures.

The meeting provided an opportunity for cordial exchange of views on legislative practices and strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation among Northeastern states, the report added. (PTI)
