Four Bangladeshi, Indian tout detained in Tripura

AGARTALA, Oct 23. Tripura Police have detained four Bangladeshi nationals along with an Indian tout at Udaipur Railway Station in the Gomati District on Wednesday.

According to a Tripura Police official, the detainees include four individuals from Bangladesh and a tout identified as Khokan Debnath, a resident of Odisha. Debnath is accused of facilitating their illegal entry into India.

“We apprehended them early this morning at Udaipur Railway Station. Khokan Debnath helped the Bangladeshi nationals in crossing the border illegally. During the operation, we also recovered 7,186 Bangladeshi Taka and Rs 44,000 in cash,” the official said.

The Bangladeshi nationals have been identified as Rupak Debnath, Jayanta Debnath, Chandan Debnath, and Sushanta Debnath. When speaking to reporters, they explained that they had entered India seeking better livelihood opportunities due to significant difficulties faced in their home country.
