IMPHAL, Oct 29: Manipur recorded five new cases of Covid-19 on Friday, taking the cumulative case tally to 1,39,876.
However, the active cases in the State declined to 12 after 15 infected patients were discharged upon recovery on the day.
On Thursday, the State had reported only one case and no patient discharged upon recovery. The active cases stood at 22.
No fatalities were reported on Friday and as such the fatality toll remained unchanged at 2,149.
No death link to Covid-19 has been reported in the state for the last 26 days. The state recorded one fatality due to the virus on October 2 last.
According to the daily update reports of the State Health department, the five new cases were reported upon testing of 163 samples in the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate of the day was 3.1%.
The fresh cases were reported in three districts with two each in Imphal West and Imphal East and one in Churachandpur district.
Notably, the three districts where the fresh cases reported are the Covid-19 most affected districts in the state with Imphal West being the worst affected one.
Including the two fresh cases, as many as 49,836 people have been infected by the pandemic, out of which 712 have lost their lives.
The infection tally of Imphal East reached 31,055 including the two fresh cases reported on the day while as many as 11,291 people including the single case reported today have been infected by the contagion in Churachandpur district.
As per the update reports, 15 patients were discharged after they recovered from the disease and the active caseload declined to 12.
After adding the latest recoveries, the recovery tally in the State rose to 1,37,712.
Meanwhile, in the ongoing vaccination drive against Covid-19, only 158 doses of the vaccine were inoculated on Thursday.
In the State, out of 32,53,648 doses of the vaccine administered till date, 16,47,215 were first doses and 13,33,022 were second doses. A total of 2,73,411 people have also inoculated with the precautionary dose, as per the update reports of the State Health department. (NNN)
