Manipur logs two fresh cases of Covid-19, no death in the past 24 hours

IMPHAL, Oct 17: Covid-19 active cases in Manipur surged to 16 on Sunday as no patient was discharged upon recovery against two fresh cases reported in the last 24 hours.

Manipur reported two fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours and it took the State’s Covid-19 infection tally to 1,39,842, the latest bulletin of the State Health department said.

The fatality toll, however, remained unchanged at 2,149 as no death due to the virus was reported from any part of the State during the period.

After adding the two fresh cases, the active cases in the State increased to 16, the bulletin said.

The fresh cases were reported upon testing of 135 samples at various testing facilities across the State in the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate of the day was 1.5%.

The fresh cases were reported in Kamjong and Kangpokpi districts.

With no discharge on the day, the Covid-19 recovery tally in the State remained at 1,37,674.

Meanwhile, the doses of Covid-19 vaccine administered in the State rose to 32,46,906 with 153 more people vaccinated on Saturday.

Out of 16,45,861 people who were vaccinated with the first dose of the vaccine in the State till date, 13,30,213 of them got the second dose. Another 2,70,832 people have also received the precautionary dose of the vaccine, the bulletin added. (NNN)
