Manipur Logs Seven Fresh Cases Of Covid-19, One Death In 24 Hours

IMPHAL, Sept 5: Manipur on Sunday reported seven fresh Covid-19 infections and one death, taking the overall infection count to 1,39,738 and fatality toll to 2,148.

This is the third consecutive day in which the State reported seven infections daily.

The latest bulletin of the State Health department said that seven fresh cases were detected upon testing of 425 samples in the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate was 1.6%.

The fresh cases were reported in four districts with three reported in Churachandpur district being the highest. Two cases were reported in Imphal East and one case each in Imphal West and Thoubal district.

The State also reported one death due to the virus on the day after six consecutive days of no fatality linked to the pandemic.

The death was reported in Imphal West. She was vaccinated with both doses of vaccine against Covid-19. She had co-morbidities, the health department claimed.

The State’s active cases surged to 61 as only one patient was discharged upon recovery on the day.

The recovery count of the state rose to 1,37,529 after adding the latest recovery. The recovery rate stood at 98.42%.

The total doses of Covid-19 vaccine administered in the State also rose to 31,91,298 with 2022 more people vaccinated on Saturday.

In the State, out of 16,33,947 people vaccinated with the first dose, so far 13,08,366 of them received the second dose. Another 2,48,985 people have also taken the precautionary dose, the health department said. (NNN)
