GUWAHATI, Jan 9: In a pivotal development on Tuesday, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh convened a crucial meeting with representatives from NGOs in Manipur, advocates for reconciliation and peace in the strife-ridden state.
Boipu Koireng and L Pishak Singh, who represent the United NGOs Mission-Manipur, a consortium encompassing 103 grassroots organisations across the state, engaged in discussions with Ramesh during the meet.
Addressing the pressing need for reconciliation and dialogue among diverse sections of Manipuri society, Ramesh took to social media platform X to share insights from the meeting.
The Congress leader emphasised the urgency of these initiatives in promoting unity and understanding.
“Boipu Koireng and L. Pishak Singh representing United NGOs Mission- Manipur, a consortium of 103 grassroots organisations across the state met me this afternoon. They underscored the urgency of initiating the reconciliation and dialogue among different sections of society in Manipur,” wrote on micro-blogging site X.
Highlighting the party’s commitment to peace in Manipur, the Congress also posted on social media claiming that The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, a significant undertaking, is a step in the right direction.
“The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is a step in that very direction,” Ramesh added.
