DIMAPUR, June 16: Nagaland on Tuesday joined the rest of the country in the self-enumeration phase of Census 2027, with Governor Nand Kishore Yadav urging people to actively participate in the exercise being conducted under the theme “My Census, My Development”.
Participating in the exercise at Lok Bhavan in Kohima, Yadav said that for the first time citizens can submit their household details online during the self-enumeration period from June 16 to June 30, marking a step towards a more citizen-centric and digitally enabled census process.
He said Census 2027 is being conducted in a fully digital mode, making the exercise more efficient, inclusive and accessible.
Emphasising the importance of the exercise, the governor said the census would provide vital data for development planning and help ensure that government schemes and services reach every section of society.
The information collected will support informed policy decisions in sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure and social welfare, he added.
Yadav acknowledged the dedication and commitment of more than 6,100 census officials deployed across Nagaland and urged them to carry out their responsibilities with sincerity, professionalism and integrity.
Calling for collective participation, he appealed to tribal hohos, community organisations, village councils, colony authorities and elders to extend their full support in making the exercise a success.
“The census is not merely a count of people; it is a foundation for future planning and development,” he said. Yadav urged every citizen to participate wholeheartedly in the self-enumeration process and cooperate fully with census officials to ensure that every household and every individual is counted.
