Guwahati, March 14: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday, forecasted rainfall activity in the Northeastern region for the next five days. The forecast is influenced by a cyclonic circulation and a trough.
The cyclonic circulation has shifted from east Assam to northeast Assam at 1.5 kilometers above mean sea level. A trough now extends from Gangetic West Bengal to north Coastal Andhra Pradesh via Odisha at 0.9 kilometers above mean sea level.
The forecast for the first three days indicates light to moderate rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh and light rain in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. The following two days may see continued light rain in these states.
A warning for the first day has been issued for potential thunderstorms and lightning strikes in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, and Nagaland. The IMD urges residents and authorities to remain prepared for potential rainfall and associated weather phenomena in the upcoming days.
