President Murmu inaugurates projects in Meghalaya

GUWAHATI, Jan 16: President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday virtually laid the foundation stones for two tourism projects during a function held at Mawphlang in East Khasi Hills district in Meghalaya.

The President laid the foundation of the Shillong Peak Ropeway Project and construction of tourist accommodation in Kongthong and Mawlyngot villages in East Khasi Hills district and Kudengrim village in West Jaintia Hills district.

Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma along with other cabinet ministers, MLAs and senior government officials were also present on the occasion.

“At Mawphlang, Hon’ble President of India, Smti. Droupadi Murmu ji virtually laid foundation stones for two tourism boosting projects in Meghalaya— the Shillong Peak Ropeway Project and the Rural Tourism construction of Village Accommodation in Kongthong, Mawlyngot & Kudengrim villages,” said Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma in a post on ‘X’.

Murmu also virtually laid the foundation of two important road projects. They are the Mangsang-Adokgre road project and the Mairang-Ranigodown-Azra road project. CM sangma said that the Mairang-Ranigodown-Azra road will be upgraded from intermediate lane to double lane.

“We are glad to have the presence of the Hon’ble President of India, Smti. Droupadi Murmu ji in the public program in Mawphlang where she virtually inaugurated two crucial road projects— Upgradation of the Mangsang-Adokgre, lidek to A’kong Road and the upgradation of the Mairang-Ranigodown-Azra Road (MRA) from intermediate lane to double lane,” said Sangma on ‘X’.
