Woman held in Agartala city with 9 grams of heroin

AGARTALA, Nov 24: Acting on a tip-off, police from the West Agartala Police Station conducted a raid in the Krishnanagar area in Agartala and detained a woman allegedly involved in drug trafficking on Monday.

Police said that the arrested woman has been identified as Madhuri Debbarma and recovered a total of 9 grams of heroin from her possession.

According to police sources, Madhuri Debbarma had long been suspected of running drug-related activities in the area adjacent to Ramnagar. Following sustained surveillance, she was detained on Monday night during a special operation.

 “She is scheduled to be produced before the court today”, said the Officer-in-Charge of the West Police Station adding that police will seek her remand for further interrogation in the interest of the investigation.
