Howraghat HS School win inter-school football tourney

DIPHU, July 4: The Under 14 team of Howraghat Higher Secondary School won the final, while in Under 17, Deithor Higher Secondary School won the final of the District Level Inter-School Summer Football Tournament, 2023. The finals were played at Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA) stadium last evening. The tournament was organised by the District Sports Office (DSO).

 

Under 14 Howraghat HS boys scored two goals against Sonapur Bodo Medium ME School to win the final. Nilupal scored in the 29th minute, while Manok scored in the 58th minute. The final score was Howraghat HS School 2-0.

In another entertaining final match for Under 17 Deithor HS boys won against Langhin Pam Gaon HS School via a tie breaker shootout. At the end of the stipulated time of 90 minutes it was 2-2. In the first half Deithor HS boys were the first to score through Harlongbi Teron. Langhin Pam Gaon HS boys got an equalizer through a penalty kick by Rahul Hazowary. The first half ended with a score of 1-1.

 

In the second half Langhin Pam Gaon HS boys increased their tally as Gobin Baglary found a score for his school. The Deithor HS boys got an opportunity to find an equalizer as they received a penalty kick. Nilim Kumar made a perfect shot for an equalizer for his team. At the end of 90 minutes the score was 2-2.

An additional time of 20 minutes was given, but ended scoreless. Both the teams went for a tie-breaker shoot out, where Deithor HS boys made four shots and Langhin Pam Gaon HS boys made three shots. The final score was Deithor HS School 4-3.

 

For Deithor HS School Pronob Uday Dungdung, Risim Terang , Bikash Lohar and Nilim Kumar have made. For Langhin Bodo Medium HS School Rahul Hazowary, Prakash Basumatary and Ianija Daimary have found the target.

 

For Under 14 Sanjoy Dhanuwar of Howraghat HS School was awarded the best player and for Under 17 Nilim Kumar of Deithor HS School was awarded the best player.

 

Trophies to the champion and runners up teams of both Under 14 and Under 17 were awarded. The district champion teams of both Under – 14 and Under 17 will play at the state level.

 

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by MLA Dorsing Ronghang; Executive Member (EMs) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Lunsing Teron and Madhuram Lekthe; Member of Autonomous Council, Headsing Rongphar; Chairman, Sports & Youth Development Board, Longki Bey; District Sports Officer, Relip Ronghang and general secretary, KASA, Dr. Pankaj Teron.
