BOKAJAN, Sept 15: The 2nd Inter-Parish Football Tournament under Diphu diocese has kicked off at St. Thomas Hidipi parish. The tournament is played in memory of Rev. Fr. Thomas.
The inaugural match was played between Diphu parish and Sarihajan parish, where the former won the match by 4-1.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Executive Member (EM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Surjya Rongphar and was attended by chairman, Borjan Village Development Committee, Sunaram Singnar and chairman, Block Level Coordination Committee, Mangalsing Hanse.
16 teams are participating in the tournament from the three hill districts of Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao under Diphu diocese.
President, Inter-Parish Football Committee, Bibison Tisso said the tournament is organised to uplift the catholic youths in games and sports. Tisso also said the tournament is organised in memory of Rev. Father Thomas, who died working in Karbi Anglong for 40 years. It is in his memory that the tournament is organised.
