Open Rabid Chess Tournament in Guwahati today

GUWAHATI, Jan 25: Guwahati Chess Academy is set to organise an Open Rapid Chess Tournament on January 26th at the Academy, commemorating Republic Day. The top five players will receive cash prizes along with a trophy. Additionally, the top three players in the Under-7, Under-9, Under-11, Under-13, and Under-15 categories will be awarded trophies. Trophies will also be presented to the top three female players. The tournament will be conducted in a Swiss league system, consisting of 6 rounds in rapid time control format.

The first round is scheduled to commence at 10 am on January 26, with the prize distribution ceremony taking place at 4 pm on the same day. Participation is limited to a maximum of 40 players, and entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Pranab Kumar Nath, a FIDE Arbiter, will serve as the Chief Arbiter for the tournament. This was stated in a press release.
