Head clerk of Bargolai Colliery arrested on rape charges

MARGHERITA, Oct 17: Ram Kumar Chetry (54), head clerk of Bargolai Colliery NEC Coal India Ltd, Margherita and a resident of Netaji Park, Bargolai under Margherita police station was arrested on Sunday night by Margherita police on charge of raping his maid at his residence.

The victim stated that she worked as a maid at Ram Kumar Chetry’s house for seven months and in the course of seven months, she was raped by Ram Kumar Chetry several times.

Margherita police arrested Ram Kumar Chetry on Sunday night after receiving the statement from the victim.

The family members of the victim have registered a case at Margherita police station. A case has been registered at Margherita police station with case number 268/22 US IPC 376/419.

Both the victim and the guilty were taken to Margherita Civil Hospital for medical check-up by Margherita police.

The victim’s family, the locals, and other organisations of Margherita and Bargolai area have demanded capital punishment to Ram Kumar Chetry and proper justice for the victim’s family.
Ram Kumar Chetry was produced before Margherita sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate and was sent to judicial custody.
