BOKAJAN, Aug 3: The Bokajan Regional Committee of the All Assam Students Union (AASU) took to the streets on Thursday in a two-hour dharna (sit-in protest) held in front of the Bokajan SDO office in Karbi Anglong. The protest was organised to express their discontent with the Cement Corporation of India (CCI) Ltd for failing to meet their demands.
Starting at 10:30 am on Thursday, AASU members gathered to voice their concerns over the CCI’s lack of response to crucial issues. The students demanded immediate actions on pollution control, plant expansion, and the creation of employment opportunities for the local population.
Following the dharna, AASU representatives submitted a memorandum to the CCI Ltd general manager, officially outlining their demands and seeking prompt resolution.
In attendance were prominent figures like Arnab Kakoti, president of AASU, Bokajan Regional Committee, and Sorjun Hanse, vice president of AASU, among others, who actively participated in the protest to draw attention to the pressing matters affecting the region.
