2 days’ national conference of Chartered Accountants inaugurated in Guwahati

GUWAHATI, Dec 1: The national conference of Chartered Accountants, organised by the Continuing Professional Education Committee of ICAI and hosted by the ICAI Guwahati Branch (EIRC), was inaugurated on Friday at Pragjyoti ITA Centre for Performing Arts, Machkhowa, Guwahati.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of prominent figures in the field, including CA Aniket Sunil Talati, President ICAI, and CA Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, vice president, ICAI.

CA (Dr) Ayush Saraf, chairman of the ICAI Guwahati Branch (EIRC), welcomed the attendees and unveiled the theme of the conference, “Shaaswat”, symbolising the eternal nature of the Chartered Accountancy profession. He emphasised the conference’s focus on defining professional goals and exploring new opportunities amid the rapidly changing technological and legal landscape.

In his address, CA Aniket Sunil Talati, president ICAI, spoke highly of the people of the North Eastern region and highlighted the pivotal role that Chartered Accountants play in shaping the nation’s economy. He emphasised the role of Indian CAs in the Global forum and highlighted the Institute’s initiatives, such as organising the Global Professional Accountants’ Convention. He also called upon the members to become global providers of quality accounting services.

CA Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, vice president, ICAI, echoed the relevance of the conference theme in the present-day scenario. He also emphasised the growing participation of women in economic activities. CA Purushottam Khandelwal expressed pleasure in hosting a national conference in the northeastern region. Immediate past president of ICAI, CA Debashis Mitra, shared insights into the profession and the evolving field of non-financial reporting.

During a press meet, the president ICAI informed the press about the Institute’s initiative to provide a 75% concession in fees for aspiring students from the Northeastern Region of India. He also spoke about ICAI’s recent initiatives, such as the introduction of a new course curriculum and the unveiling of a new CA logo representing ICAI’s participation in nation-building.

CA (Dr) Swati Tejawat informed the press that the two-day conference would feature experts from various fields discussing diverse topics and was attended by about 1000 delegates. The conference aims to provide an excellent learning opportunity and fellowship platform for all participants, enhancing the professional image of CAs in the region. The event promises to be a significant milestone, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among Chartered Accountants from across the Indian sub-continent.
