New Delhi, April 1: The Supreme Court of India has recently ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into a 2013 case involving the death of a 25-year-old Manipuri woman in Delhi.
The decision came in response to the plea filed by the deceased’s family, alleging that the Delhi Police had failed to apprehend the culprit and had shielded the accused. The woman, who worked at a call centre, was found dead in her rented house in South Delhi.
The court noted that the crime scene indicated it was not a case of suicide and suggested a homicidal death.
The family had earlier approached the Delhi High Court for a CBI investigation, but their petition was rejected due to reasons including mismatched DNA samples and the inability to locate a key figure in the investigation.
